To Linda and families.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to you all as we hear this very sad news. Barrie was a person who we got to know through the Greymouth camera club and going on field trips together over many years. He was always willing to share his knowledge and give support to all. A life taken far too soon. Arohanui, Joy and Doug Baker, Dunedin.
I am so sorry to hear of Barrie’s passing he was such a lovely man. I enjoyed working alongside him at the Breweries. My thoughts are with you Linda, the girls and their partners a huge loss for your family.
A true gentleman and the best boss we could have asked for. Your guidance, care, and mentorship meant so much, and I’ll always remember your humour, that cheeky smile, and the nod of your head that said it all. Forever remembered with gratitude and respect. Rest easy, Barrie.
Greymouth will be greatly saddened to hear of Barrie’s passing. A quiet an unassuming man, he made a real impression on those that got to know him.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Linda, the girls and all of his family and friends. His death will leave a huge void in their lives.

Barrie a gentle and kind man gone to soon RIP my Friend
We are truly sorry to hear of Barrie’s passing. Barrie’s commitment and dedication to quality was a key to the success of Monteiths. He took his work very seriously but always had a smile and a great sense of humour. A favourite quote we remember from Barrie was, “I like my vegetables in a concentrated form… steak!” Barrie and Linda helped us massively during our time on the Coast. They were great landlords and became great friends. Ben and Paul still recall days spent on lake Brunner on “Barrie & Linda’s ‘fast’ boat.”
Sorry we can’t be with you on Friday, but our thoughts will be with you Linda and the girls. When we get back to NZ we will come to visit.
Kind regards
John & Mary Richardson
