A Gathering to honour and celebrate Olwyn’s life will be held in the
William Sampson Memorial Chapel, Tainui Street on her 90th birthday – Friday, February 6, 2026 at 2pm.
Olwyn and I met near the end of her life, and I am profoundly grateful for her friendship. As her neighbor, she welcomed me into her home with a generosity and ease that I will never forget—sharing stories, encouragement, and comfortable silences. Her family serves as a beautiful example of how to lead with deep care and connection during a loved one’s final days. I will always remember Olwyn’s strength and her capacity for joy; she never uttered a complaint and was always quick with a knowing raised eyebrow or a smile. She lives on in my fondest memories.
